Welcome to our journey!
What is going to be happening in this space?
This grassy-clover area is going to be converted to a native pollinator garden over the next couple of years.
When you plant, usually year 1 they ‘sleep‘, while they are setting down a strong root system. Year 2, they ‘creep‘, while they are growing in their environment. Then year 3, they LEAP!
Hopefully by year 3, the garden will have a whole host of insects, birds and animals.
Did you know this subdivision was built on a wetland, so it is critical to bring that biodiversity back……..one garden at a time.
- * Have you read about the declining bird populations?
- * Been worried about the floods and crazy weather?
- * Did you know that it takes ~6000 – 9000 caterpillars to raise a chickadee family?
- * Are you aware that our native insects are plant specialists and only eat native plants?
- * Native plants host these insects, which in turn feed a variation of birds. Without the insects, there will be no birds.
- * Native plants will increase the biodiversity in your garden exponentially!
